A journey into the future...
I have always dreamt travelling into the future. It all began with a motion film named "Back to the Future". When I first saw this film I couldn't help wondering how the future might be. I went on and on day-dreaming envisioning new devises for our daily future lives. Spaceship circling over my head. Hailing a flying taxi or playing with a supersonic skateboard.
Later one, my visions changed a bit, as I started to read some of Isaac Asimov’s books (Robot dreams, the complete stories, etc.) Many of my ideas related to the future were shaped around Asimov’s notions. I usually positioned my dreams circa 2025. Which looks extremely awkward today as 2024 is just around the corner.
I never consider staying in the future for a long period. I envisioned myself in a sort of “narrator” stage, viewing the future life from a perspective or a distant angle. Never really involved in the things that might happen there. I love my current life as it is. Undoubtedly you would say…”but there are too many going wrong”. Nonetheless, I have learnt that life is what we make of it and the future will come as it is: the future.

I think is a really interesting blog!! and how you want to go to the future but just as an observer and not to stay for a long time. By the way, I also got obsessed by the movie "Back to the future" and I really like the scene where Marty is skating in the future.
ReplyDeleteI think the idea to playing with a supersonic skateboard sounds so fun jaja me too have a lot of dreams about the future but i agree with you about the i like my current life. I don't see the movie you mention, its so famous and i don't know why never watch it, this make me feel to have to watch it, so interesting blog! i like it!!
ReplyDeletei have always thought that in a sort of time we will go to the extinction first, than getting so many tecnologies like traveling in time, thinkers robots or whatever the human could create. the future is so unpredictable and the human sometimes so selfish. but well by the way, i´m so sad to know that possibly i will not be able to see all the things that will be created then, because i will be dead one day
ReplyDeletegood blog, I really enjoy it, specially I really like how you make a memory work in every post, it’s like you confront your younger self to your present self, so this theme makes so much sense
ReplyDeleteGreat blog!! In 2022 I worked in a library and so many people read Asimov`s books, I really interested if they are about future things, really cool!!
ReplyDelete"I never consider staying in the future for a long period." me neither, because what kind of future are we building?, i think this sentence has some kind of sadness to it, or melancholy, i don't really know which one could be, but makes a good back and forth and counterpoint to the idea of the future and progress, where we actually live in nowadays.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! I had never asked myself about time travel before, so it surprises me that you had that dream for a long time and it's incredible that it changes as you grow up.
ReplyDeletesometimes i think that maybe science fiction literature and movies can determinate the future and their posible ways to live, i think it's important the influence of the imaginaries of literature in our ideas to construct that future
ReplyDeleteWow, what a coincidence, I have always loved the movie "Back to the future" because of the topic, but I prefer the idea of traveling to the past most than traveling to the future.
ReplyDeletei think we've all thought obsessively about the future after watching back to the future!! haha. it's really interesting to think about the future even though it can be a bit overwhelming.
